Chick-fil-A style chicken nugget recipe

This is my favorite new recipe! I mentioned yesterday that we were having chicken wraps for dinner...this is the recipe that I used. We all loved them so much, I was even dreaming about chicken last night! (Actually, the dreaming was probably more from the pregnancy...)



I found this recipe a while back posted by Stephanie Lynn on Under the Table and Dreaming, and it just took me a while to try it.

You will need:
Cooking Oil {you can use Peanut but it is not necessary} -- I used vegetable oil and it turned out great
1 Egg
1 Cup of Milk
1 Cup of Flour
2 1/2 Tablespoons of Powdered Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
I Tablespoon of Salt (I used less)
2 Skinless Boneless Chicken Breast, cut in strips or cubed (I used chicken thighs, cut into smaller pieces)

First mix together the egg and milk and let the chicken pieces set in the mixture.


In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and pepper and stir. Heat oil (I used a cast iron skillet on the stove over medium heat).

Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until coated. The blog where I got the recipe suggested double dredging them -- milk then flour, milk then flour -- which I did also.

Place chicken in hot oil. Mine took 3-5 minutes per side to cook. The first few I turned before they were quite as golden brown, but they still tasted fine. In this picture, the two pieces in the upper right corner have not yet been flipped.

Remove chicken from oil and place on a paper towel to dry. I couldn't believe how perfect they looked!


And really, they tasted amazing! The only thing I will do differently next time is to use my larger cast iron skillet. Since I wasn't sure how long things would take, I used the small one, which took a while with a pound of chicken...

  3. Not sure what I did wrong but honestly they were a little "off" & bland- I think it was because I used wheat flour-all I hand on hand. Yours looked delicious so next time I'll try with regular flour. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

    Only thing I did different was soak my chicken is dill pickle juice over night prior to cooking, and it was excellent !!!

    1. I've heard about soaking in dill pickle juice, but never tried it.mi should ones of these days!
