Amazon deal: Dyson DC25 Vacuum

I always thought a vacuum was a vacuum. Then I tried to clean up pine needles with my 3 1/2 year-old (cheap-o) vacuum. Fail! It was super frustrating, took way longer than was resonable, and in the end I couldn't even finish. So we borrowed a friend's Dyson and the job was done in about 5 seconds. Well maybe 5 minutes. But afterwards I felt like I had completely wasted a part of my life that I could never get back trying to use the old vacuum!

Since cleaning up the tree, I've gone back to using my old vacuum for everyday clean-up. After my experience with the Dyson I feel like my old vacuum is just pushing dirt around on my carpet. We decided a new vacuum was necessary, but $500 for a vacuum seemed pretty crazy. Sure, there are plenty of others that are much more reasonably priced, but taking a vacuum for a "test-drive" sure made it a whole lot more attractive.

While researching on Amazon, I found the Dyson DC25 for $382.99 (still pretty expensive, but way better than $500). The price cannot be seen unless you add it to your cart, which means that Amazon is selling it for less than the manufacturer recommends. If you are in the market for a new vacuum and have been looking at the Dyson, but couldn't justify the price, this might be the deal for you! The price could change at any time, back up to the "normal" price. To check out more, just click through to Amazon. You will see a "see price in cart" and that will show you the current sale!

I have been completely pleased with our decision! Since my Dyson arrived (last evening) I have vacuumed the entire house. It is wonderful to use a vacuum that makes a less than exciting task a whole lot more fun!

I am not an impulse buyer at all, but I am thankful that we were able to jump on this sale quickly! A big part of that was being able to put Amazon money we've saved up through Swagbucks to put towards it!

Already dusty from picking up all the dirt and grime that my old vacuum left behind!

A really cool feature about this vacuum is the "ball technology"...basically you can do a right turn instead of having to sweep back and forth to turn. Its definitely made my vacuuming more efficient!

The bristle part in the beater comes out super easily...I pulled it out to remove all the hair that was already collecting around it.

The handle also telescopes out and effortlessly reaches the top of my 9 foot ceilings. It makes those high cobwebs a thing of the past!

Now that this totally sounds like a Dyson commercial, I want to add that this is not a sponsored post in any way; all opinions are 100% my own. Also, the Amazon link is my affiliate link, so if you purchase through it, I receive a small percentage of the price. If you'd rather not do that, simply go directly to Amazon.

Cyber Monday Deals

Did you shop on Black Friday? I am not a Black Friday shopper, mostly because the Friday after Thanksgiving has always been a time for visiting with family, and with my sisters spread down the east coast, we took the time to hang out at home instead of at a store!

There are a ton of Cyber Monday deals out there, and I am most excited about the Lightning Deals on Amazon.

Amazon reveals new products at discount prices in limited quantities, and many of the great sales sell out in the first 5 minutes. I'm a huge believer that the best deal is not the most heavily discounted item, but the item that is on your list for the price that is in your budget! Amazon does give a hint about many of the upcoming lightning deals, and some of the bigger ticket items have more information (like a 3rd generation iPod touch for under $300).

Having a membership to Amazon Prime (free 2-day shipping with no minimum order) can be a big help in deciding to take advantage of lightning deals under $25 because shipping could make the sale price inconsequential. You can get a free membership to Amazon Prime by joining Amazon Mom!

Amazon.com: Diaper Deals

There is a coupon in the August 2010 issue of Parents for 20% off diapers from amazon.com (good through 8/31/10). This is a one-time use code that can be used on one item only. The coupon can be found in both subscription issues as well as newsstand issues, but check before you buy to make sure someone hasn't ripped the code out!
You can also get an additional 30% off diapers (for a limited time) by using the 'subscribe and save' option. This is a service that will automatically send you the item every 1, 2, 3, or 6 months. If you want to cancel subscribe and save, you can do so at any time. Depending on the diapers you buy, there are also coupons offered by amazon now! I think only Pampers has coupons ($2 off Swaddlers and $1.50 off others), but this will stack also.
Here is a recap of the different discounts available at this time:
-30% off for using subscribe and save
-Amazon coupon (Pampers - you must be signed in to view, look under the item description and you will see a coupon box link)
-20% off coupon from Parents
-free 2-day shipping!

I did some quick math and it looks like you can get size 4 Luvs for 11 cents/diaper (180 ct box for $20.10). Size 4 Pampers Cruisers come to 15.5 cents/diaper (140 ct box for $21.70). If you have redeemed your Swagbucks for Amazon gift cards, you could reduce your out of pocket expense even further!
Even if you use cloth diapers, its always nice to have some cheap disposables on hand, especially for vacations this summer!
Mercedes at Common Sense With Money is going to have a giveaway of these 20% codes. If you have a copy of Parents and are not going to use your code, check out her site and you could give your code to someone else.

Thanks to BabyCheapskate for the initial heads up!

Great Sale on KitchenAid Mixer!

My favorite gift from any of my bridal shower quite possibly still is this mixer. I use my KitchenAid at least weekly during the summer and closer to every other day during the winter. I've been able to save our family so much money by learning to make things from scratch that are way over priced (and full of preservatives) in the grocery store! Seriously, I would consider this a must have for your kitchen, even if you only mix up a few batches of cookies at Christmas. It is a HUGE time-saver (especially for yeast doughs) and works great.

Amazon currently has the KitchenAid K45SS Classic 250-Watt 4-1/2-Quart Stand Mixer on sale for $159.20 (from regular price $269). It is only available in white. PLUS, the mixer ships free with super saver shipping!

If you have been looking for one of these mixers, this is the best price that I have ever seen! I do love that mine is red and matches our kitchen, but I'm sure the white one works as well as one of the colors! :-)

So, I guess that was enough gushing for one day...check back tomorrow for a food waste picture (or hopefully no picture!).

Thanks, Moms Need to Know!
